Team Brand Moto Racing will contest AMA Supermoto Championship with Johnny Lewis as rider and managerLewis will launch season at the Stateline Supermoto Challenge this weekend Coatesville, Penn. (April 1, 2008) – AMA Supermoto racer and five-time AMA Sports Dirt Track Champion, Johnny Lewis, has a new program this season with Team Brand Moto Racing. He will compete in the Lites Class of the six-round AMA Supermoto Championship and other select races. Lewis will serve as the team manager and is part owner. For the last two years, Lewis rode for Team KTM HMC finishing in the top five in both years’ final standings in the AMA Supermoto Unlimited Class. He had one class win and a number of podium finishes. This year, Lewis will run private Yamahas in the Lites Class and is scheduled to compete in the Stateline Supermoto Challenge in Primm, Nevada on April 4-6, select CMRC National Supermoto Championship rounds in Canada, and the MISuperMoto X on August 16 in Clio, Michigan. “I am pumped to have an all-new program this year with my own team,” said eighteen-year-old Lewis who runs number 21.”We have a real shot at competing in the top level of the class and plan to launch some innovative marketing campaigns for fans.” Dubach Racing Development (DRD) has brought its support to the team with an effort to become more involved in supermoto. DRD will provide its proven motocross exhaust systems and engine work to Lewis, helping to take him to ‘the next step’ in racing. The first AMA Supermoto round is on July 13 in Seattle, Washington with additional stops in Connecticut, Wisconsin, Utah, Texas, and Nevada. Lewis has been in California the last few weeks setting up his new Yamahas and preparing for the season at various practice tracks.
