The STARS will Twinkle Bright at StatelineSome of the brightest Supermoto Stars in the business have the April 4 -6, Stateline Supermoto Challenge inked on their calendar as the kickoff of their 2008 season. A treat for fans and racers alike is the return of the Godfather, Mike Metzger, to Supermoto action at Stateline. Action Sports fans know his trademark move of back-to-back flips to win Freestyle gold at X-Games in 2002. With his style and enthusiasm he is sure to put on a show. Brandon Currie will be competing on a Graves YZ 450 at the Stateline Supermoto Challenge as a tune up for the ESPN Moto X World Championships X-Games in San Diego the following week. "Since Stateline doesn't have the pressure of the X-Games or the AMA Supermoto Championship Series, the racing is a lot of fun and everyone is out their showing what they are capable of and providing the fans with good battles," said Currie. Gary Trachy has moved from Husqvarna motorcycles to Yamaha for the 2008 season. He is affiliated with Graves Motorsports and Team Graves Yamaha and will run the YZ 450 equipment. Trachy will also be conducting a Supermoto School on Thursday April 3 at Stateline. "You have to hand it to Marche Karger, Event Manager Organizer and Supermoto racer, he builds outstanding dirt sections that incorporate table tops for the amateurs and the pros. The dirt is exciting for the fans and just the thing I need to get ready for the X-Games," explained Trachy. Micky Dymond is looking forward to the Stateline contest to get a full race simulation and see what the competition has and how far the team needs to go to be competitive for 2008. "This is my third year in a row at Stateline and it's a great event with a ton of things to do," said Dymond. "Some of the best riders, amateur and pro, are competing at this event." Troy HerfossChris Fillmore moved from Kawasaki to KTM for 2008 and is looking to get a handle on his new 2008 KTM 450 SX-F equipment. Early testing indicates that the KTM horsepower comes on smooth and his times have been extremely fast. Team Racing Team RacingOne of the biggest thrills of the three day event is the team races that include two racers and two bikes per team. During the race up to 35 teams per class compete and change riders every ten minutes by rolling down the NASCAR-style pit lane and touching their front wheel to their teammate's rear wheel. After the touch is made the competitor roars off into battle for another session of heated competition. |
