2007 KartSport Grand Prix Official Details
Third annual event unveils karting/supermoto dual event

The 3rd Annual KartSport Grand Prix has been confirmed for June 8-10, 2007 at the Jim Russell International Karting Center. The event will once again feature the formula of a high cash payout while offering just a handful of classes. This year’s KSGP will be the only national event at the esteemed and popular karting facility located at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA.

Radio ads on rock stations, coverage on Bay Area television, articles in RACER magazine and local newspapers, and tireless efforts by the PR department of Infineon Raceway have established the KartSport Grand Prix as one of the most widely publicized events in karting. The first two years of the KSGP set attendance records at the karting facility, yet 2007 will feature a number of innovations targeted at extending the awareness of the sport.

In cooperation with Supermoto USA, this year’s KartSport Grand Prix will feature a Pro 450 supermoto class that will be a part of the event weekend. Supermoto racing is a very popular form of motorsport, as its unique blend of dirt and pavement motorcycle competition produces close and exciting racing. Over 40 riders are expected to enter the single supermoto class during the KSGP weekend.

“We’ve been tossing this idea around for the last couple of years, and with the help of Brok McAllister of Supermoto USA, we’re finally able to bring it to reality,” stated KSGP organizer Jeff Franz. “Within our industry, it’s an established truth that we must make bigger and better efforts to showcase our sport to newer and larger audiences, and it’s very clear that the karting and supermoto communities have a lot in common. The response from both sides has been tremendous, and we’re greatly looking forward to using this cross-promotion to drive our advertising efforts into different markets.

”Karting classes for the 2007 KartSport Grand Prix will be ICC, TAG, G1, and Stock Moto. The Miss KartSport Beauty Pageant will also make a return, along with the always-popular Vintage Kart racing exhibition.

As ever, the KSGP is dedicated to bringing many of karting’s finest operations personnel under one roof. The 2007 staff will include such respected names as Don Moormeister, John Motley, Bob Bellino, Tom Thelen, Chris Egger, Gary Baldes, Terry Bybee, and Nichole Wimsett.

The KSGP website (www.kartsportgrandprix.com) will be updated on March 7th with detailed information about this year’s event. For further inquiries, contact info@kartsportgrandprix.com.
