David Pingree to Azteq Racing for 2008

February 27, SuperMoto Racer Magazine just heard from Ping himself that he has signed a deal to race on the Azteq racing team for the 2008 AMA Supermoto Series as well as the two ESPN supermoto events (Moto X World Championships and X Games). 

Azteq will field a road racing team as well as a supermoto team for ’08. As for the supermoto team, it will consist of one rider—Pingree.

The team has been in the works for some time but the rider was undecided. Pingree’s former Team Troy Lee Designs’ mechanic, Mitch Leonard, is heading up the project for Azteq Racing. 

As of right now Pingree will mount a Honda CRF450R built by Pro Circuit with Dunlop tires. There are rumors the team is still talking to Kawasaki but for the opening round Ping will be on a Honda.
