Supermoto des Nations coming to America
In a recent announcement by YouthStream, the promoter of the MX and Supermoto World Championships Series, the group is working diligently to create a presence in the U.S. market. YouthStream boss Giuseppe Luongo stated that starting this year there will be a U.S. office on the West Coast.
Although most of you are aware of the fact that YouthStream has been in talks and has bid on AMA outdoor motocross nationals, the AMA has yet to decided who will run the AMA motocross nationals
Regardless of the outcome of the AMA motocross national championship, YouthStream will be running races starting in 2009. Right now the plan is to run a US MX GP round in 2009 and in 2010 the Motocross and Supermoto des Nations will go off. Starting in 2011 they will hold two rounds of the world MX championships.
The facility for the event has yet to be announced although it has been chosen. Luongo stated the track is one not already on the AMA circuit. They are working with a facility to hold at least one motocross GP each year and the Motocross des Nations in 2010, 2013 and 2016.
As for supermoto, the news of having the Supermoto des Nations in the U.S. is big news. The race will be run during the same week as the Motocross des Nations in 2010. There are also possible talks of bringing one round of the world supermoto championships to America but the details right now are uncertain.
Like in the ’70s and ’80s, the world motocross championship series will be returning to America. The epic days of the US GP days of Carlsbad will be back with a great impact and the world championship series will again extend away from the European continent. Top American riders will be given a chance to swap tire marks with the world GP riders.
